Glarus beer label – the bird of Bulgarian craft brewing
Glarus is probably one of the first craft brewing companies in Bulgaria. Started between 2013-2014 it grew and still grows rapidly and successfully. Though being very young it was run by a powerful team with great ideas, knowledge and character. We are telling you this because it all reflected positively on our work for Glarus.
Let’s start with the brand name – Glarus is a relative of ordinary seagulls but it is larger and stronger one. Glaruses are very native to Varna as well as the whole area so this bird is kind of an icon for the city and the Black Sea. Couldn’t think of anything better for a craft brewing company in Varna.
So having a brand name Glarus means that we should have it immediately on our new label – and there it is! A large elegant Glarus illustration is placed at the top half of the oval label against fine wavy pattern that is meant to remind of sea waves and open skies. Right below the bird is the Glarus logo – a red banner with calligraphic contour depicting an open book, a symbol of the knowledge and art of craft brewing. The bottom half of the label is reserved mostly for typographic part where you could read the beer name, its details and additional info like producer name, alcohols, etc.
The media we choose here was PP SIlver by UPM Raflatac – a highly resistant to humidity, low temperature and moisture silver metallic folio very suitable for beers, white wines, sparkling wines, etc. We preserved the natural shiny and glossy effect of the folio in our design by printing directly the artwork on folio surface using only selected areas covered whit white ink. The result is really amazing – the metallic effect is so beautiful and attractive that it actually makes everyone grab the bottle and touch the label first.
We also payed special attention to the cap – it is one for all types of beer, branded with Glarus name and with our bird at the centered of the red cap against white circle.
